Marine engineering brings its own unique problems. Requiring a knowledge of tides, ship or small boat movements, fendering etc. Sometimes work is completely new, as the scheme at Island Harbour. However, often the work is required due to replace structures that have reached the end of their life or require to be upgraded to cater for larger ships requiring deeper water etc. 
Work below high water requires Marine Consents and normally consent from the Environment Agency and/or Natural England.
