Merlin Quay

Over dredging had led to the collapse of the sheet piled sea wall in front of the hanger at Merlin Quay. We designed a replacement quay wall with the new wall line behind the original prestressed anchors. The loading from the wall was taken to the side walls by the new suspended concrete deck. This, in turn, was supported on tubular steel piles. During the work, the worlds largest wooden ship, The 586T Tenacious was being built within the hanger. Once complete it was launched out over the new concrete deck.
