HMS Alliance

Refurbishment of HMS Alliance

HMS Alliance is the main exhibit in the submarine museum at Gosport. She was built in the latter stages of WW2 and decommisioned in 1972. She has recently been subject to a £7m refit. As part of that work I had to design some complex temporary works to allow the bow to be removed in sections for refurbishment. I also gave advice on fixings where it was desired to avoid welding, the foundations for the access walkways and retaining walls for the filled area over which she sits. Picvtures of the completed work can be found at https://www.nmrn.org.uk/submarine-museum
